Get Me Out
Oh my gosh!!! It is AMAZING that any of us LIVED!!! I can NOT believe what women lived threw while giving birth, even only 20 years ago!!! It is crazy that any one did it again, and again! (it must be because they had NO birth control...) This book is crazy, or maybe history is crazy, I am SO glad I am having my kids in the days of hospitals, and educated DR.s!
The first chapter had me out of my seat, saying that Eve had the WORST birth EVER!!! because it was the first, and because it was punishment for her 'SIN'.
Would I recommend it? um... um... it was interesting, I really did learn A LOT, and it made me so thankful that my OB went to school... So if you are in to the history of well of all man kind then I guess sure. (but make sure that you are reading another book at the same time...)
Making and having babies ”what it takes to get pregnant, stay pregnant, and deliver ”has mystified women and men for the whole of human history. The birth gurus of ancient times told newlyweds that simultaneous orgasms were necessary for conception and that during pregnancy a woman should drink red wine but not too much and have sex but not too frequently. Over the last one hundred years, depending on the latest prevailing advice, women have taken morphine, practiced Lamaze, relied on ultrasound images, sampled fertility drugs, and shopped at sperm banks.
In Get Me Out, the insatiably curious Randi Hutter Epstein journeys through history, fads, and fables, and to the fringe of science, where audacious researchers have gone to extreme measures to get healthy babies out of mothers. Here is an entertaining must-read ”and an enlightening celebration of human life.
Lone Wolf
I loved this book!!! I love most of Jodi's books... (a LONG time ago I read The Pact... Oh my goodness!!! I still think about it!!!! I read it in 1998!) This book was TOTAL family drama!!! (I love drama... in books, not so much in real life...) I found myself not being able to wait for the next page!
Would I recommend it? YES! ESP. if you have Drama in your life, or want to escape in someone else's for a while!
In the wild, when a wolf knows its time is over, when it knows it is of no more use to its pack, it may sometimes choose to slip away. Dying apart from its family, it stays proud and true to its nature. Humans aren't so lucky.
Luke Warren has spent his life researching wolves. He has written about them, studied their habits intensively, and even lived with them for extended periods of time. In many ways, Luke understands wolf dynamics better than those of his own family. His wife, Georgie, has left him, finally giving up on their lonely marriage. His son, Edward, twenty-four, fled six years ago, leaving behind a shattered relationship with his father. Edward understands that some things cannot be fixed, though memories of his domineering father still inflict pain. Then comes a frantic phone call: Luke has been gravely injured in a car accident with Edward's younger sister, Cara.
Suddenly everything changes: Edward must return home to face the father he walked out on at age eighteen. He and Cara have to decide their father's fate together. Though there's no easy answer, questions abound: What secrets have Edward and his sister kept from each other? What hidden motives inform their need to let their father die... or to try to keep him alive? What would Luke himself want? How can any family member make such a decision in the face of guilt, pain, or both? And most importantly, to what extent have they all forgotten what a wolf never forgets: that each member of a pack needs the others, and that sometimes survival means sacrifice?
Another tour de force by Picoult, Lone Wolf brilliantly describes the nature of a family: the love, protection, and strength it can offer - and the price we might have to pay for those gifts. What happens when the hope that should sustain a family is the very thing tearing it apart?

Home Front
By Kristin HannahThis book was AMAZING! I really loved every page of it, it even almost made me cry... almost, (I am heartless...) But it was so good I really LOVED every page!!! When I picked it up to read I didn't realize that it was by the same author as Winter Garden... My fav book last year!!! Really if you have a best friend, or family you need to read this book!!!
Would I recommend it? YES!!! It is the perfect weekend read!
Now, in her most emotionally powerful story yet, she explores the intimate landscape of a troubled marriage with this provocative and timely portrait of a husband and wife, in love and at war.
All marriages have a breaking point. All families have wounds. All wars have a cost. . . .
Like many couples, Michael and Jolene Zarkades have to face the pressures of everyday life---children, careers, bills, chores---even as their twelve-year marriage is falling apart. Then an unexpected deployment sends Jolene deep into harm’s way and leaves defense attorney Michael at home, unaccustomed to being a single parent to their two girls. As a mother, it agonizes Jolene to leave her family, but as a solider she has always understood the true meaning of duty. In her letters home, she paints a rose-colored version of her life on the front lines, shielding her family from the truth. But war will change Jolene in ways that none of them could have foreseen. When tragedy strikes, Michael must face his darkest fear and fight a battle of his own---for everything that matters to his family.
At once a profoundly honest look at modern marriage and a dramatic exploration of the toll war takes on an ordinary American family,Home Frontis a story of love, loss, heroism, honor, and ultimately, hope.

Full of Life
by Nancy O'DellA little boring... she had a 'perfect' pregnancy, and delivery... that is BORING! As long as you are going to read about what it is all REALLY like, you mine as well laugh... so read Belly Laughs instead!!! (Her biggest problem was hiding that she was pregnant...)
While Access Hollywood host Nancy O'Dell was pregnant with her now one-year-old daughter, her girlfriends threw her a baby shower. In addition to baby clothes, diaper bags, and blankets, her friends gave her a scrapbook they'd filled with advice for what she should expect during pregnancy and childbirth, based on their own experiences. As Nancy flipped through the pages and read about what she'd already experienced (and panicked over), she thought to herself, "I wish somebody had told me that!" Even the countless books on pregnancy she'd read hadn't mentioned any of the items in the scrapbook, and, it would turn out, Nancy would experience many more things during her pregnancy that were perfectly normal but came as a shock to her as well. Luckily for future new moms, Nancy realized that every woman could benefit from this straightforward advice on pregnancy and motherhood, and decided to write a book in which she shares her own experiences of the unexpected (and often unspoken) things that happened during her pregnancy and some of her girlfriend's tips as well. Extraordinarily helpful and filled with sweet, pithy, honest, and candid tips from Nancy on everything from unusual cravings and out-of-the blue leg cramps to sudden pre-baby breast leakage and what really goes on in the delivery room, Full of Life is the perfect gift for every new mom.

Belly Laughs
By Jenny McCarthyLoved this, I was laughing so hard I almost fell out of bed!!! (a little crude,,, but I think that is ok when you are going threw this!)
Would I recommend this? yes to any one who is, or has been pregnant!!!! BUT NOT TO any one considering being pregnant!!!
Oh, the joys of pregnancy! There's the gasiness, constipation, queasiness, and exhaustion; the forgetfulness, crankiness, and the constant worry. Of course, no woman is spared these discomforts and humiliations, but most are too polite to complain or too embarrassed to talk about them. Not Jenny McCarthy! In Belly Laughs , the actress and new mother reveals the naked truth about the tremendous mood swings, the excruciating pains, and the unseemly disfigurement that go along with pregnancy. Never shy, frequently crude, and always laugh-out-loud funny, McCarthy covers it all in the grittiest of girlfriend detail. With tips and hilarious musings on morning sickness and hormonal rage, hemorrhoids, pregnant sex, and the torture and sweet relief that is delivery, Belly Laughs is must-read comic relief for anyone who is pregnant, who has ever been pregnant, is trying to get pregnant or indeed, has ever been born!
Palace Beautiful

She ended her engagement at the last minute because fiance—a musician an soon-to-be reality TV star—wanted her to sacrifice her own career ambitions for his. Now she's stuck at home sharing a room with her little sister, trying to pay off massive debt for a wedding that didn't happen, and spending Friday nights Facebook-stalking everyone who has a better life. Her therapist father urses her to choose her career dreams and count her blessings by writing weekly thank-you notes, but gratitude is a tall order when she botches an important job interview and has to settle for writing an undercover dating web-zine column—the last thing in the world she wants to do. Still, as Pepper (byline:Indie Girl) chronicles her bizarre and hilarious blind dates, she gives her father's challenge a try and slowly finds herself leaving self-pity behind. Life takes a major upswing as Pepper's column hits the big time and she tastes the exhilarating thrill of success. But there's one tiny problem: the intensely hot man she's falling for is having issues with her job (again). Will Pepper trade her personal ambition for another chance at love?

Being Sixteen
By Allyson Braithwaite Condie (aka. Ally Condie)I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book!!! It was so personal for me!!!! (Does Ally really know me??? How did she get into my head??? and, am I still 16???)
Would I recommend it??? A yeah, to everyone!!! It is one of those books that reminds you that you are NOT alone!!! This really was an amazing book! (even if you are 16 + like me...)
The night of my sixteenth birthday, I didn’t even bother to make a wish when I blew out the candles on the cake. It was my sixteenth birthday, after all. My wishes had already come true. When you turn sixteen, you can start dating. And driving. And living. I counted the candles on my cake as the flames flickered in the summer breeze. I heard the cheers of my friends and family, and as I tasted cake and summer and the promise of good times to come, I thought, This is going to be a good year. Maybe the best year of my life. I had no idea.
